The programme

A whole school year, designed for one child at a time.

Three class bands cover the primary years. Each child is placed in the band that fits their level, not just their age. The curriculum follows Nigerian national learning outcomes, adapted for delivery on a phone.

How it works

Six steps. Then the programme runs itself.

From enrolment to your first lesson takes one afternoon. After that, you'll find a new lesson in WhatsApp every weekday morning, like clockwork.

  1. 01

    Enrol in 5 minutes

Choose your child's age group and complete the simple enrolment form. Pay your first month via Paystack — card, transfer, or USSD.

  2. 02

    Save our number

We send a welcome WhatsApp from the SafeRoots number. Save it once. From that moment, daily lessons land in your chats.

  3. 03

    Open the app

Tap the link in your welcome message and add SafeRoots to your phone's home screen. It works like any other app.

  4. 04

A new lesson, ready when you are

Each weekday, the day's lesson arrives on WhatsApp — a PDF, a short voice note, and a friendly nudge. Open it whenever fits your family's rhythm.

  5. 05

    Your facilitator, on call

Each class band has a named facilitator your family can message directly with questions, plus periodic check-ins on your child's progress.

  6. 06

    Term reports & badges

At the end of each term you receive a written report and a printable certificate of progress. Hold-it-in-your-hand proof of growth.

Built for the way you live

School without the school run.

We built SafeRoots for families who can't always rely on the road, the power, or the network. Everything we send is small, downloadable, and stays on your phone.

  • Works on a feature phone

Lessons arrive on WhatsApp. No app required for the basics. The companion app is optional and lightweight.

  • Works offline

Open today's lesson once, and it stays available even when the network drops out.

  • A real, named facilitator

Every class band has a named Nigerian-trained facilitator your family can reach directly with questions — not a chatbot.

  • Safeguarded by design

No public groups. Each family is in private, supervised conversation. Full safeguarding policy on request.

Questions

What parents ask us first.

What do I need to start?
A phone with WhatsApp and any kind of internet — even a slow connection works. A tablet helps but is not required. We send lessons as PDFs and short voice notes so they open on any device.
What if we lose internet for a few days?
Lessons you have already opened stay available offline. When you come back online, the missed lessons are still in WhatsApp, ready to catch up.
Who supports my child?
Each class band has a named, Nigerian-trained facilitator your family can message directly with academic questions. Our admin team handles everything else — enrolment, scheduling, and day-to-day enquiries. Lessons are self-paced, so your child works through the curriculum on the rhythm that fits your family.
Can family abroad sponsor a child?
Yes. Many of our families are sponsored by an uncle, aunt, or family friend overseas. You pay the same Paystack link from anywhere — card payments work internationally.
How is this different from a YouTube channel?
SafeRoots is a structured programme. Every lesson follows a written curriculum, every family has a named facilitator they can reach, and every term ends with a report card. It is school — just delivered differently.
Does SafeRoots offer the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)?
No — SafeRoots issues its own leaving testimonial when your child completes a level, which most secondary schools accept for JSS1 admission. The government FSLC is no longer required by most schools, so we don't offer it. If your child needs an FSLC for a specific school, we recommend completing Primary 6 at a registered school instead. Families aiming for Federal Government Unity Colleges can register independently for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) — this doesn't require an FSLC either.

SafeRoots Learning issues its own leaving testimonial on completion, accepted by most secondary schools. We do not issue the government FSLC. Families needing FSLC for a specific school should complete Primary 6 at a registered school. NCEE registration (for Federal Unity Colleges) is independent and does not require an FSLC.
